G Adventures announced that it has passed the $200,000 CAD mark ($164,000 US) in its gathering of aid for Nepal earthquake victims.

On April 27 the Toronto-based adventure tour operator promised to match $75,000 CAD. But when it hit the mark within 48 hours it increased the target amount and agreed to match an additional $25,000.

G Adventures has been operating its small group adventure tour programs in Nepal for 15 years. The company is now involved with efforts on the ground in Nepal to bring assistance to those in need.

The company forwarded $10,000 in aid right away for emergency aid and will channel the remaining funds into repairing and building homes in the disaster area.

Some of the company’s aid will be directed to Sisterhood of Survivors, a community project of G Adventures’ nonprofit sister organization Planeterra.

G Adventures is still taking donations for Nepal at Planeterra’s Nepal Earthquake appeal page. The company is covering administrative costs to make sure that 100 percent of the donations reach their target and benefit those in need in Nepal.
