El Rosario is a small residential urbanisation located on the beach, just outside of Marbella on the Costa del Sol, in the province of Malaga. The area is very laid-back, with a mix of luxury villas and apartment complexes, all within walking distance of the lovely beach.El Rosario isn’t a town, but there are bars, restaurants and a supermarket in the local vicinity. For more amenities, the larger resort of Elviria is just five minutes in the car, and Marbella around 10 minutes drive.
It is home to a lovely stretch of golden sand, which forms part of the stretch of beach of East Marbella, which is thought to be one of the best along the Costa del Sol.
There are lots of bars and beach restaurants, showers and water sports can be found at intervals along the beach.
El Rosario is home to two particularly lovely beach chiringuito’s (restaurants). Hippo’s is ideal for families with children, with a more laid-back menu, serving hamburgers, hot dogs, salads, etc. Los Canos, however, is at the other end of the scale, an upmarket beach restaurant, serving delicious fresh seafood dishes, paella and roasted meats.
El Rosario is an ideal destination for those who want to a base to explore the rest of the Costa del Sol. Marbella, Mijas and Fuengirola, are within easy reach, with a bus that takes you to all three destinations


Marbella's luxury resort town seems to have it all and is rising again to the fore as a favourite location with the rich and famous, as well as more ordinary folk who are willing to pay just a little bit extra for southern Spain's answer to St Tropez. Not too long ago it sharpened its image more thanks to a considerable investment resulting in a massive landscaping drive.
But Marbella has a down to earth side as well, an air of individuality which can be best appreciated by exploring back streets in the old part of town. There is parking all over the old town making it convenient to drive to and visit. One of the prettiest places is the fabled 'Orange Square' which is located just off the main street in the older district and is also home to the 16th century town hall and tourist office where you can pick up a detailed map and visitor information. Marbella centre with the majority of businesses, banks and companies spread out around the main arterial road, Avenida Ricardo Soriano, is the new and modern part of town. Take a pleasant stroll along the pedestrianised promenade paved, part marble and part pipe clay, the promenade begins in the fishing port of La Bajadilla and extends to Puerto Banús, a stretch of about 6 km.
